Terms of Service

Orbit is a free, community-made Minecraft mod. These terms are the rules for using it and Orbit Cloud, the online service that shares cosmetics and emotes between players and carries friend requests and messages. Orbit asks you to accept them, and the Privacy Policy, the first time you start the game with it. If you don't accept, Orbit doesn't connect to Orbit Cloud.

What these terms cover

They cover the Orbit mod and Orbit Cloud (api.orbitcosmetics.dev). The mod's source code is public on GitHub.

Orbit is not an official Minecraft product. It is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. You still have to follow the Minecraft EULA and the rules of any server you play on.

Your account

Orbit Cloud knows you by your Minecraft account. You sign in through Minecraft's own sign-in check, so Orbit never sees your password or your Microsoft account. You're responsible for what's done with your account.

What you share

When you play on a server, the cosmetics and emotes you wear are uploaded to Orbit Cloud, and other Orbit players there can see them. You keep the rights to what you made. By uploading it, you allow Orbit Cloud to store it and show it to other players, for as long as you share it.

Only share what you made yourself or are allowed to share. Featured catalog items belong to their creators; you can wear them, but not sell or republish them as your own.

You can also send friends screenshots and cosmetics. A cosmetic you share is uploaded so your friend can download it and add it to their wardrobe; only share it if you're allowed to.

Messages between friends are end-to-end encrypted when you turn it on for a conversation (the lock); then Orbit Cloud can't read them. You can edit and delete your own messages; a deleted message shows as deleted to both of you. You're responsible for what you send, and for what you write on your profile: your description, pronouns and outfit. Friends can report a profile, and moderators can act on it like on anything else.

Rules

Moderation

Players can report others from the game. Moderators may then block a cosmetic, or ban a player, for a while or for good:

While banned, you can't put back what was removed. You keep your friends and your messages, and you still see other players' cosmetics. Moderators can't read encrypted messages, but they can act on what is reported to them.

Hosting worlds

Orbit can put your world online through e4mc, a separate mod and service with its own terms. Anyone with the address can try to join a hosted world, so only share it with people you trust. You're responsible for your world and who you let in.

The service

Orbit and Orbit Cloud are provided free and as they are, without any warranty. Orbit Cloud may be slow, go offline, lose data, change or end at any time. Keep your own copies of anything you make: the files in your Orbit folder stay on your computer.

As far as the law allows, the people who make Orbit aren't liable for any loss or damage from using it, or from not being able to use it.

You can stop using Orbit Cloud at any time: turn it off in Orbit's settings, or remove the mod.

Changes

These terms may change as Orbit does. When they change, the date at the top changes too, and Orbit asks you to accept the new version the next time you start the game.
